Humility, Kindness & Love (HKL) Movement – A Sikh Faith Perspective in Canada

On 2nd August 2025, an extraordinary gathering will take place in Canada, uniting people from across the globe under the banner of Humility, Kindness, and Love (HKL) with mass volunteers travelling from Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, Walsall and across the West Midlands, UK to attend the service.

This movement is dedicated to reviving the values of compassion, service, and unity—principles that deeply resonate with the Sikh faith. At the heart of this event stands Sant Baba Baldev Singh Ji, a spiritual guide and humanitarian who has tirelessly worked to spread the teachings of Seva (selfless service), Simran (remembrance of God), and Sarbat da Bhala (welfare of all).

A Gathering of Hearts and Souls

The upcoming HKL event is not just a conference but a spiritual wave of transformation. With 14 speakers, 3500+ attendees, and participants from over 31 countries, the event will inspire individuals to cultivate humility, overcome inner anger, and foster unity in a world increasingly divided by ego and materialism. More than 113,000 live stream viewers are expected to join virtually, making it a truly global effort to heal the collective heart of humanity.

The gathering will feature live music, free lunch (in the spirit of Langar, a cornerstone of Sikh service), and enriching talks from international leaders in spirituality, humanitarianism, and peace efforts.

Sikh Teachings and the HKL Movement

The Sikh Gurus emphasized humility, compassion, and the universal brotherhood of humanity. Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, declared:

“Naam Japna, Kirat Karni, Vand Chakna”
(Meditate on God, earn an honest living, and share with others.)

The HKL movement’s philosophy aligns perfectly with this vision. By encouraging people to live with humility, kindness, and love, the event echoes Guru Nanak’s teaching that true spirituality is not found in rituals but in the way we treat others—with Daya (compassion), Nimrata (humility), and Prem (love).

Sant Baba Baldev Singh Ji, one of the keynote figures at this event, embodies these Sikh values through decades of spiritual teaching and humanitarian service. His belief that “Connecting hearts will heal the wounds of this world” is a modern reflection of the Sikh ideal of Sarbat da Bhala—praying and working for the well-being of all, regardless of religion, caste, or background.

Why This Event Matters

In a world clouded by ego, greed, and division, the HKL movement is a call to return to our spiritual roots—where selfless service and love for humanity take precedence over personal gain. For Sikhs, this gathering is an opportunity to reaffirm the values that the Gurus imparted: to see God in all beings and to serve humanity without discrimination.

As the HKL movement states:

“The face of humanity is growing unpleasant, clouded by ego and hardened by a lack of compassion. But this is not how God made us. God blessed humanity with true Humility, Kindness & Love. That’s why HKL is so important—to recognize our true self, our true beauty, and to live through these virtues.”
