A teenager has been charged with multiple offenses after a violent incident at the Sri Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara in Gravesend, Kent. The disturbance took place on a Thursday evening, prompting a swift response from local authorities. During the incident, a 17-year-old male was arrested after two women were assaulted outside the temple and a bladed weapon was recovered by the police.
Kent Police confirmed the arrest and charged the teenager with assault, threats to kill, and possession of a weapon in a public place. Despite the seriousness of the altercation, fortunately, no one was seriously injured. Police have emphasized that the event was an isolated incident and have pledged to maintain a presence in the area to reassure the local community.
The attack left local politicians, including MP Lauren Sullivan, expressing their concern. She offered her support to the victims and acknowledged the quick response of emergency services. Security minister Dan Jarvis also commented on the situation, stressing that all communities should feel safe in their places of worship.
