A new rendition of the historic Shabad celebrates the timeless words of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and Punjab’s rich musical heritage
Tu Hi Tu Arts and Dhamma Records are pleased to announce the release of a new rendition of ‘Miran Danan Dil Soch’, a Shabad penned by Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, over 400 years ago.
A composition of deep spiritual significance, the Shabad is set in Raag Tilang, a raag known for its soothing, beautiful and devotional character. Through its timeless words, Guru Arjan Dev Ji offers spiritual reflection and guidance that continues to resonate with Sikhs across generations.
This new rendition brings the Shabad to life through a melody rooted in Punjab’s rich oral musical tradition. Passed down through generations, the melody has been preserved through the living musical heritage of Punjab, although its precise origins remain unknown.
The recording represents a meeting of Gurbani and tradition, allowing a centuries-old Shabad to be experienced through a melodic tradition that has travelled across generations. It is a reminder of the deep connection between Gurbani, Raag and the musical heritage of the Sikh tradition.
For Sikh listeners, the release offers an opportunity to reconnect with the bani of Guru Arjan Dev Ji while appreciating the musical traditions through which Gurbani has been shared and remembered over the centuries.
